Today I turned 70 and I'm afraid of the future for the first time in my life. My wife and I were in the front of the line on Friday. If this had been an ordinary election I would have voted for Jagmeet, on Friday I voted for Mark Carney because I love Canada. I have never been ashamed to say, "I'm Canadian" and no matter what happens, I always will. I see Pierre shouting his shallow vows and promising us the world so he can upgrade his mansion and golf at Mar-a-Lago. I watched the citizens of the US vote for the worst human on earth, believing his lies and I see us doing the same. I see Danielle Smith, Kevin O'Leary and Pierre Poilievre. This is why I fear the future.

He’s got you brain washed , what a shame. Pierre Polivere is Canadian through and through. He’s worked very hard to become the best politition. I’ve watched him work hard when liberals were asked questions they never ever got an answer.carney is an evil ma. He wants to tax everything I mean everything as high as he can . He will eventually tax us to death until we can’t afford our homes our cars anything he owns. (Have you read his book)?he will invest Canadas. The people’s taxes and invest into other countries for the WEF. He has stated Canadians will own nothing and be happy. Unfortunately the people voting Liberal have not done enough research as it takes time. Carney is a Globalist, WEF DAVOS where all the elites have there annual wealth meetings. He’sAlso for The One World order. God help Canada if he gets in. He is friends with Trump he’s trying to scare you. Trumps son borrowed money from Brookside investments.a billion dollars Beijing lent MarkCarney 1/4 of a billion dollars after becoming the leader. He has Chinese spread in different areas of Canada in order to vote for Carney. He is such a corrupt narcissist evil dictator.

Never never $130 billion added onto what Trudeau already had that will be added. The answer of who to vote for is who is sending fear to the country and who is giving HOPE. I HAVE SO MUCH HOPE IN Pierre Polivere He has a plan for Canadians. To keep our money in Canada. Carney will put our money into Brookfield in New York then money laundering it to a tax free country to spend on WEP, Globalists, DAVOS meetings, one world order. I would definitely fear this.

Hi Sandy. I understand that you feel Carney is making people afraid. He focuses on the threat of Trump taking us over. Sadly, it is not an idle threat. Trump has said it over and over again, and many world leaders have said that he repeats, in their presence, that Greenland and Canada need to be secured for the USA's security. This is not fake and Trump is not joking. This is true and real. From the other side's perspective, Poilievre has been saying for a long time that Canada is broken. I think everyone agrees that Canada could be a lot better. Nobody will argue against that. But to say that it is broken is hyperbole and wrong. Canada is a highly functioning democracy - but it is a country with problems (like all countries). Our healthcare system (Provincial responsibility) needs to be fixed. Our tax system definitely needs an overhaul. Too many low- and middle-income people are paying too much, and too many high income people are not paying enough. Corporate taxes also need to be examined. Our education system needs to be updated (also a provincial responsibility) so that students are learning to think, gaining media literacy skills, and learning new skills & how to use the tools at their disposal to become wise, creative, and productive members of society. Canada also has a productivity problem and that really needs to be addressed. We need to make sure that immigrants with the qualifications we seek can arrive in this country and get accreditation A.S.A.P. so they can get to work in the industries and jobs where we need them. We need to eliminate trade barriers between provinces to unleash an internal market that is itching to be activated. And we have to find a way to leverage the natural resources we have (oil, gas, LNG, critical minerals) while still trying to save the environment, mitigate climate change, and pivot to a greener economy. If we can agree on these things, then that's a good start. I think (hope?) that most people would agree with what I've written here. So let's stop seeing each other as evil and start having the kinds of conversations that lead to people from all political stripes trying to find effective solutions to the problems we face today and in the future - myself included.

I agree with a lot of what you have said. Pierre Polivere knows and talks about these issues.i agree that as of last year Canada was broke and still is. This is thanks to Justin Trudeaus and Mark Carney trying to give as much money away out of Canada . The slush fund that Liberal insiders ended up with in the millions of dollars. Canada can come back slowly but surely with Pierre Polivere as Prime Minister.

I would certainly hope you don’t and if you have a family hope your kids can service the consequences of letting Carney destroy our country.

Not true. Liz Truss is what wrecked Britain’s economy. PM Carney advised her to not leave the EU. She ignored his advice. Britain left and their economy crashed. He gave only good advice. Like he is giving us. 🇨🇦

Liz Truss? She was PM in 2022. Carney left the Bank of England in 2020. David Cameron was PM when the Brexit Referendum took place. He resigned when it passed. Teresa May was PM when the Brexit process started. Because Carney spoke out publicly about Brexit breaking the tradition of impartiality of the Bank he was effectively forced out a year before his term was up.

Sounds like are or want to live in a Communist country.

Nan's avatar

Read some British comments. And then believe what you want. Liz Truss was pushed out after 48 days as prime minister of Britain. Nothing to do with Mark Carney but because Britain was unhappy with her leadership. Of course she is going to be bitter.

As far as net zero. You Cons freak out. If we g on like we are we won’t have a world. Scientific explanation

“Net Zero refers to achieving a balance between the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. This can be achieved through reducing emissions, investing in renewable energy, and offsetting any remaining emissions through activities like carbon capture or reforestation. Many countries, companies, and organizations are setting Net Zero targets to help mitigate climate change.”

This is not a scary thing no matter what PP and Harper say.

Not this time.

We are in a time of flux, extremism, possible economic meltdown worldwide, and as far as I’m concerned, the only political leader out there who has the ability to guide Canada through this safely is Mark Carney! That’s why on the first day of early voting my husband and I voted for a liberal candidate for the first time ever.

We voted Monday and there was still a queue. Promising, I hope. In one very short campaign pp changed his position constantly to try to fit what he thought people wanted. That doesn’t mean he would give Canadians what they want if elected. Weak men can be very dangerous when they are handed power. You just need to look at trump’s cabinet to know that is true.

Political scientists will tell you there is a marked difference between democratic socialism and communism. In a social democracy leaning country like Canada we elect our leaders. In a communist or fascist country leaders are self-declared autocrats. In a social democracy we live within cooperative, caring communities. With a communist or fascist government it is the power of the state, personified by an ego-driven, strong-man leader, that governs decisions, not the well-being of the people. Americans would be much happier, live longer, and be better educated if they lived in a social democracy.
